Myth: Pubic hair is unhygienic

1 Mins read

Pubic hair can be an awkward topic to discuss, which is why no one knows much about it being unhygienic! Even though the topic is coughed away often, there are some things about pubic hair that should not be ignored. For example, it reduces friction during sex, reduces risk of STDs, and maintains optimal genital temperature! Some people prefer to shave or trim their pubic hair, while some braver folk prefer to wax it off!

This is a personal preference and is not linked to any direct medical benefits. Grooming your pubic hair does reduce odour but at the same time, it causes bumps and irritations too. If you wish to keep your genitals hair-free, make sure you do it in a clean and hygienic environment. If you are someone who isn’t bothered by it, here is a pubic hair myth, busted.

At the end of the day, your pubic hair is yours to groom or grow or trim or wax. However, since it does have many positive benefits attached to it, it is not essential to shave it off just because you may think its unhygienic. And if you do decide to do so, make sure you do it safely and sanitarily. In case you do develop any after effects like redness or itching, do consult your doctor. Here’s an article on good vaginal hygiene that doesn’t require shaving or trimming.
