Myth: Swimming on your period is bad

The sun in your eyes, drinking fresh coconut water, and the tan lines on your skin can only mean one thing – Summer is here! The blaring heat probably makes you want to jump into a pool, even on your period! So today, we are here to bust the myth about swimming on your period.

Swimming, in fact, provides relief from cramps since it causes the body to release endorphins. Endorphins are natural painkillers and help elevate your overall mood. If anything, swimming on your period is actually good for you!

Today, there are a range of products to choose from, such as sanitary pads, tampons, and so forth. A pad soaks up water quickly and so it is not ideal for swimming or any other activity that involves getting into a body of water. Products like tampons and menstrual cups are inserted into the vagina and will not come in contact with the water. This is because the muscle surrounding the vagina (unless aroused) stays closed, in order to protect itself, making these products perfect to use during a swim.

We all love summer and the wonderful things that come with it – the shorts, the hats, the water, the sands! This summer, let loose and shatter this myth!
