Ultimate movie list to beat your period blues

3 Mins read

We know it can be tough when Aunt Flo pays you a visit, what with all the mood swings, acne, bloating and cramps. But what if you could make it better by catering to your period moods? We made you a period playlist, so it’s only fair to fill the void with the next best thing – MOVIES! So, pick up your NUA pack, jump into your PJs, grab a tub of popcorn or ice-cream and a friend (if you want) and get ready to watch some of the best movies from this movie list that’ll speak to your period soul.

Here we go:

We know you’re curled up in bed, but there’s nothing like this movie that’ll make you want to swing your hips and bedazzle your imaginary audience. Add a dash of Christina Aguilera’s voice, moves and her sizzling chemistry with Cam Gigandet you’ve got yourself a definite period worthy movie.

PS: Actually, grab your partner for this one. This movie is sure to make you feel confident and sexy even at that time of the month!

Don’t believe us? Watch the trailer here:

Periods can get you down low and you could sure use a laugh during such times. The all-women cast of the new ghostbusters is just the right amount of fun, sass and ridiculousness. Enjoy the gag, also Chris Hemsworth is there just so that we can objectify him.

Check it out:

Mean Girls

Our all-time slumber party favourite! There’s nothing like a mean girl rerun that brings out all your pent-up period emotions. Just like Lindsay Lohan’s character walks away with a smile at the end of the movie, you will too!

Easy A

Next in line of our favourite rom-coms, to have a cozy period night in, would be this Emma Stone flick. Totally badass and awkward, this one’s perfect for post period relief!

Wild Child

This movie should be in your PMS starter kit. The lead character seems to be nothing short of PMSing through the first half of the movie (No offense, but I feel the same way right before Aunt Flo knocks on the door) and the second half feels like she’s finally settled into her situation which will help you settle into the functioning of your uterus too!

Harry Potter And The Sorcerer’s Stone

I admit, being a Potterhead I might be a little biased here. But hey, who doesn’t want to believe in magic when your uterus is shedding its lining?

WARNING: You may cry like a baby when Harry talks to his parents through the ‘Mirror Of Erised’

Jab We Met

Self-love is the best kind of love and no better than the lead character Geet to teach you that! Watch and enjoy guys!

Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham

Karan Johar sure knows his audience. This movie right here is the perfect emotional roller-coaster your uterus and hormones need during that time of the month. You’ll laugh, feel patriotic for no reason, groove and cry all in a matter of 3 hours.

This movie is a true Indian coming-of-age movie. It tells you to move on no matter what happens in life and that kind of motivation is what you need when you’re on your period and feeling a little low!

A perfect laugh to combat the very stressful time of the month. This movie could possibly be your sunshine on a rainy day.

Aaja Nachle

Madhuri Dixit’s come back movie didn’t really create an impact with the audience, but her expressions and moves will sure make your day a little brighter. And if you’re feeling up for it you may even try and imitate her moves! You know what they say, exercise is always recommended during your period.

Dear Zindagi

Okay, so this may give you major vacation vibes because it includes Goa! But another coming-of-age story that’ll have you bawling in the right places, feeling frustrated in the others and smiling at the end of the movie. Just like your period does.

Badrinath Ki Dulhania

Light-hearted movies that end on a note of strong feminism like these are the best when you’re not feeling your best thanks to Aunt Flo. It’s got all the ingredients of a perfect entertainer and will surely make you feel a little better by the end.

This is our list. But we’d love to know yours! What’s that one film you love watching while on your period? Leave us a comment.
