7 tips to deal with thigh chafing in the summer

2 Mins read

Uncomfortable inner thigh chafing or chub rub is a painful reality for so many of us. The summer heat, the sweat and the constant rubbing of thighs causes rashes and sometimes even blisters. Experiencing chub rub is like carrying a ball of fire between your legs and trying your best to not let others notice the discomfort.

If you’re already experiencing this nightmare or want to be extra cautious to prevent it, here are a few things you can try out.

7 ways to deal with the problem of thigh chafing or thigh rub in the summer:

1. Wear easy breezy shorts!

A simple way to avoid friction between your thighs is wearing a pair of breathable shorts. However, keep in mind that synthetic fibres work better than cotton in the summer. Since, cotton is extremely absorbent it traps moisture instead of letting it evaporate. Alternatively, you can invest in a set of biker shorts with built-in rash guards.

2. Baking Soda

An everyday household ingredient, baking soda is one of the cheapest yet most effective solution to reduce rashes. Mix it with coconut oil and apply it generously in the region. It primarily helps in getting rid of excessive sweat production and thereby reducing the concern of rashes. Just sprinkle some on and the chub-rub is gone.

3. Roll-on deodorant

You probably would have one lying around in your bag to keep sweat stains in the summer heat at bay. All you have to do is roll it on your painful region. Ensure you use an unscented one. Usually the ones for sensitive skin are ideal. You may have to re-apply it after a couple of hours but it’s a simple, cheap and non-greasy solution to treat thigh chafing.

4. Anti-chafing bands or Bandelettes

Sometimes despite trying every solution in the book, you can’t prevent thigh chafing when you’re wearing a dress or a skirt. For those days, wearing anti-chafing bands or bandelettes is the perfect way out. Just pop them around your thighs and your good to go. Besides they make you look & feel a lot sexier than the usual shape-wear shorts that you wear under your dresses in the summer.

5. Butter it up

Another easy peasy remedy to treat chub rub rashes is butter. You can use normal butter or emulsified butter (ghee) or ever shea butter. How you use it is, massage it on your rash prone region, leave it for an hour and wash it off with water. Repeat the  process for a couple of days for completely healed skin.

6. Aloe Vera Gel

Aloe vera has been used as a natural solution to heal broken skin or any kind of skin condition, no matter if its summer or another season. You can either buy aloe vera gel or can simply use it directly from the plant to apply on your inner thighs. It helps calm the region and decreases inflammation and skin redness.

7. Corn starch & coconut oil

A magical concoction that you can prepare in minutes to soothe the burning sensation between your thighs. Mix a bit of corn starch with coconut oil (about a third cornstarch and two thirds coconut oil) and apply it on the region. While corn starch absorbs moisture, coconut oil helps with its anti-inflammatory properties. Don’t let thigh chafing or chub rub come in the way of your summer plans.

So Nua women, now don’t let the fear of friction stop you from having an amazing time out or keep you from wearing your favourite dresses.
