It might be time to go from Hot Water Bag —-> Heat Patch

2 Mins read

When it comes to period pain, nothing is as relieving as heat therapy. It is one of the most common methods of coping with dysmenorrhea as the heat helps to reduce muscle tension and relaxes the abdominal muscles to reduce pain caused by muscle spasms.

The heat also increases pelvic blood circulation to eliminate local blood and body fluid retention. This helps to diminish congestion and swelling, and gives us relief from pain caused by nerve compression.

It is a timeless practice passed down to us by our mothers and grandmothers – especially the use of a hot water bag. It does, however, has its own cons.

Sometimes the hot water bag gets hot too soon and sometimes you have to change the water constantly. Moreover, hot water bags can be bulky and add some extra weight to all the period problems.

So, maybe it’s time to upgrade your hot water bag. Here’s why:

  1. It is not portable : You cannot carry the hot water bag wherever you go and you cannot wear it wherever you want. It will always be like that extra handbag you force yourself to carry because of the lack of better options.
  2. It needs some extra effort : You have to heat up water before pouring it inside the bag and how many times have you spilled the hot water over your hand!
  3. It doesn’t reach where it should : Wouldn’t it be great if you could leave the hot water bag exactly where it hurts and go about with your day? But that can’t happen due to its large size.
  4. It needs too much adjustment :The hot water bag needs to be moved around constantly. You have to move it across your belly, waist, and thighs to keep warm in the places you want.

In spite of all the problems, most women still prefer the hot water bag as the perfect solution to their period pain or cramps.

But we thought of something!

At Nua, we took this idea of heat therapy and tried to find a more suitable and upgraded version of the hot water bag. Our Cramp Comfort is an air-activated heat patch which you can easily wear inside your underwear. The non-sticky part of the heat patch provides warmth for up to 8 hours, while the sticky part remains attached to your underwear. This way you can go about your day and do what you want to do, comfortably.
