1 Mins read

Any activity during period can be a unique experience. You are either too low to do it well or high enough to do an excellent job. Doing anything during periods can have its own set of pros and cons. Similarly, sex during your period is one such experience. Sex during your period has its advantages and risks. We’ve broken them all down for you so you can decide for yourself!

1)  Consent first

Communication about sex during your period is important, as is consent from both partners. If you’re uncomfortable to engage in intercourse during your period, or your partner is, it’s best to have an open discussion about it.

2) Keep it clean!

Make sure to wash yourself before sexual intercourse. Lay a towel down on the bed to avoid any mess and stains.

3) What are the chances of getting pregnant while you are on your period?

Yes, you definitely could get pregnant! Sperm can survive for 3-5 days in your body. Additionally, ovulation can slightly overlap with the latter days of your menstrual cycle. Using a condom will also keep you and your partner safe from potential infections (which you’re more susceptible to during your period) and also STDs.
